How To Get Your Free ‘Fortnite’ Skin From PlayStation

Sony is never one to be outdone on exclusive content, whether that means games that it develops/publishes itself or, just as often marketing deals with third-party developers. The console manufacturer has had a deal with Fortnite developer Epic Games for a while now, and that’s meant a steady drip of free skins and other cosmetics for PS+ subscribers. As is always the case with cosmetic items in games, it’s either the most valuable thing in the world or utterly forgettable. Judging by Epic’s astronomical income, plenty trend towards the latter.

Grabbing the free skins is the same as it has been in the past: all you have to do is head over to the PlayStation store and retrieve them. So long as you have a Fortnite account tied to the account you used to retrieve the skins, they’ll show up in-game. Which is great news, because said skins are no longer restricted from being used on other consoles. The catch, of course, is that you have to be a PS+ subscriber, but many of you likely are anyway.

The skin is pretty straightforward, though that’s not a bad thing. It’s called “Prodigy”, and it’s a sort of 80’s movie interpretation of, I don’t know, someone who is good at math. There’s a female version too, which will likely show up in the item shop soon enough. This male one, however, is exclusive to PS+. The bug chunky glasses with the dog tags still dangling underneath the bandanna are a nice touch.

You also get the tabulator back bling, which I haven’t had a chance to play with yet. But it appears to be similar to the A.I.M. back bling, which counts your in-game eliminations, allowing you to wear your current score with pride into you’re inevitably outbuilt and stomped into the ground. Epic is playing around with reactive skins and other cosmetics these days, and this is a fairly simple feature that’s fun to have in the game.
