Here’s How To Get Fortnite’s New Lil’ Kev Cube Back Bling Before It’s Too Late

With all the craziness that happened in Fortnite yesterday, with the Cube exploding, players being transported into the Cube dimensional rift matrix, and then being brought back to earth by a rift fairy-butterfly, people may have missed that you can now actually get something to memorialize our time with the Cube.

That would be a new set of challenges that award “Lil Kev” back bling, a chunk of inactive Cube with googly eyes, the name being a reference to the fact that the community collectively came together to name the Cube “Kevin,” a meme that Epic has now recognized with this item.

To get Lil Kev for yourself, you have to complete what is probably one of the easiest sets of challenges I’ve seen in the game:

• Play 15 matches
• Gain 5,000 XP
• Outlive 500 opponents

The only catch is that you have just seven days to do this before you won’t get another chance. Now six days, considering we’re already a day into it. This can clearly be done relatively easily in a week, but I’m not sure if most people realize that it’s a limited time offering. Most other challenges, like the weekly ones and the Skull Trooper one, last for much longer, but Lil Kev is a limited time offering to those players willing to play a decent amount in the first post-Kevin week of Fortnite.

I was confused about this back bling at first because in the preview, you can’t see the eyes. But that’s just because of the angle. The eyes are actually on the side of the Cube, not the back, which is why you can’t see them in the preview. It’s not a progressive skin where they open over time, which I thought might be the case when I first saw this.

Have we seen the last of Kevin? It does seem like it. The only remainder of the Cube on the map is the new “Cube Stonehenge” island formation in the middle of Leaky Lake, which is now covered with a rainbow as well. It seems the game is about to move on to other things and we may be done with rifts and Cubes and purple energy pulses, though given that there are still several weeks to go in this season, I would not be surprised if we saw some new calamity interrupt this moment of peace soon enough.

I will miss Kevin, as I have been chasing him around the map for about a full season now, first when he rolled, then when he floated, and then when he blew up. But I guess we’ll always have Lil Kev, along with the other Cube-themed skins like Deadfire and evil Brite Bomber.
