‘Fortnite’ Bouncer Trap Pad Officially Returns, and Insanity Ensues

The newly reintroduced Bouncer trap pad is back in Fortnite: Battle Royale, and already tons of players are defying the practical laws of physicals and doing all sorts of insane things with the item.

Developer Epic Games released a new patch on Tuesday morning, and the most noteworthy new addition is definitely Bouncer Trap. “The sky is the limit,” a new post from Epic Games reads. “Hop on the new Bouncer trap and send friend or foe soaring!” Functionally, the Bouncer trap falls somewhere in between a traditional Fortnite trap and the Launch Pad. Bouncers don’t actively do any damage, and the players that use them are allowed a normally impossible amount of movement. A Bouncer will launch players in whatever direction the Bouncer is facing, but they won’t take any kind of fall damage.

Here’s what the official patch notes have to say about the new and improved Bouncer trap pad:

Bouncer trap added.

• Drops in stacks of 3 in Treasure Chests, Supply Drops, Supply Llamas or floor loot.

• Can be placed on floors and walls.

• Provides a jump boost upward or in a direction.

Perhaps the most straightforward use for the Bouncer is making a quick exit from tall structures:

Normally, fall damage is a huge concern, but if that fall happens after a Bouncer, that damage is negated. That means you can quickly escape from the top of a building in Tilted Towers or even a tower of your own design. But another method of use is to stick it to the side of an existing structure and use it to bounce your character horizontally, like here:

Another pro tip, courtesy of redditor PescadoPodrido, is that you can disguise any Bouncer pad placed on level ground by building a roof directly on top of it. When walked on, the trap will supposedly still trigger:

The fact that Bouncers drop in stacks of three is fairly noteworthy because it means that players will start using them quite a bit. And because they’re a trap and not a normal consumable item, they won’t take up a primary inventory slot. Expect Bouncers to come up a lot towards the end of most matches when players are battling it out in their player-made towers, both as a quick exit strategy and a way to quickly invade an enemy’s structure.
