Everything In Fortnite’s New v5.10 Content Update Patch

Epic has rolled out a new content update patch for Fortnite today. It’s not an especially big one, but there is a very specific theme to it: explosives and more explosives.

There’s a new explosive-based LTM, and a favorite explosive weapon has returned at last. Here are the two major pieces of this v5.10 patch.

Guided Missiles Return (And Get Nerfed)

Guided Missiles were vaulted after Epic realized they were just too dominant in the Fortnite endgame, and it was clear they needed some time to be reworked. Well, the time has come to put them back into the game, but now they’ve been pretty heavily nerfed compared to how they worked before. Here are all the changes:

• Fuse duration reduced from 18 to 15 seconds.
• Movement Speed decreased from 1100 to 1000.
• Reload time increased to 2.4/2.2.
• Reduced player damage from 105/110 down to 74/77 damage.
• Reduced structure damage down from 1100 to 400.
• Explosions now damage structures with no regard for Line of Sight.

As you can see, those are huge nerfs to Guided Missiles, and they’re not even considering the other nerf that affects them, the fact that the total rocket ammo cap is far lower now than the last time these were in the game, which will reduce missile spam greatly.

Now, Guided Missiles will move slower while traveling a lesser distance because of a shorter fuse. They take longer to reload and do less damage to players and far less to structures, less than half of what they did before. So, it stands to reason that they’re almost certainly not going to be as dominant as the last time we saw them, but better than other rockets and grenades and C4? That remains to be seen.

Fly Explosives LTM

If you want to try out the new Guided Missiles quickly, you will probably want to hop into the new Fortnite LTM that combines all manner of explosive weapons with the return of jetpacks. Here are the rules for this new mode:

• Only Explosive Weapons can be found in this mode.
• Floor Loot spawners will occasionally spawn Jetpacks.
• Fly Explosives Jetpacks have increased fuel regen rate & decreased burn rate compared to Default Jetpacks, to keep pilots in the sky a bit longer.
• Between-storm wait times have been reduced due to players needing less time to find adequate loot (avg. match length should be lower than 20m).
• Rocket Ammunition capped at 120.
• Profile Stats (K/D & Wins) are tracked in this mode.

Well, at least we got the rocket ammo nerf un-nerfed for this. Also, Playground…
