Will The Cube Explode For Halloween In ‘Fortnite’?

Fortnite is off the rails right now. Purple lightning is streaking down from the sky, the map is infested with monsters and Kevin the Cube sits at the center of it all, hovering above Leaky Lake and wreaking havoc upon the world he’s been occupying for weeks’ now. The only thing is, all this business seems to be taking its toll on old Kevin. He’s already blown up the floating island, and now noticeable cracks are starting to form on his surface: I have long suspected that the end of the cube was nigh, and I’m hoping this might finally be it. And I’m guessing that something big is going to happen with it, likely tomorrow.

There are three reasons for this, in my estimation. One: clearly these cracks obviously mean something: little is placed into the Fortnite world without specific intention, and that goes double for anything cube-related. Two: there’s probably going to be a new patch tomorrow, particularly considering we didn’t get one today. And three: it’s Halloween. If something big is going to down, it’s not the worst time for it. The scale and scope of Fortnite events has been steadily growing ever since the meteor impact way back at the beginning of Season 4, and I have a feeling that the cube has more drama left in store before it leaves.

I’m betting on the cube exploding in some way, shape or form. Whatever happens, it won’t affect cube monsters being produced, because we still need those for Fortnitemares challenges, but it could be the big punctuation mark we need as we move towards the end of the big Fortnitemares event. My guess is that it will just amp up everything we’re already seeing, from cube monsters to purple lighting and a general swirling darkness.

Even if the cube does explode tomorrow, the biggest changes likely won’t happen until the end of the Fortnitemares event, when the entire map might undergo a slightly less spooky reorientation. I doubt we’ll see the end of the corrupted zones, because again they’re tied to challenges. But We could well see more developments with the constantly shifting Loot/Leaky Lake, and that could be exciting.
