Cloud 9
Cloud9 announced their Fortnite team on Wednesday, July 3. The players joining them are Skylar “snow” Babinski, Nicollas “Nicks” Polonio de Oliveira, Patrick “BlackoutZ” Garcia Da Silva, and Igor “Drakonz” Fernandes Theophilo Amorim. The team previously consisted only of Korean players. Now they add three Brazilian players and one player from the United States.
Previously, Cloud9 had a Fortnite team back in 2018, but they released players due to the uncertainty surrounding competitive play. Now, the gaming organization has reentered in a noteworthy fashion. Three out of four of the new players qualified for the Fortnite World Cup Final.
Meet the players
Though relatively unknown in the North American and European regions, the signings from Brazil include top tier and consistent players. Nicks is arguably the best player in the region. Meanwhile, snow qualified for the finals in the NA West region as a solo player.
snow
Snow qualified for the World Cup in Week 1. Before being signed by Cloud9, he was a top free agent. He consistently finished in the top 100 for the duo competition and came a few points from qualifying in Week 10. This came after switching partners for the final week. Snow’s skill is undoubtedly comparable to the top players in the world.
Nicks
Nicks is the only player in the Brazil region to qualify for both the duo and solo tournament. He finished at the top of the region in three of the ten weeks. Neither consistency nor talent lack in the young Fortnite player. Additionally, he is the top earner in Brazil for competitive Fortnite.
Drakonz and BlackoutZ
These two already play together for tournaments and competitions. As a team, they have consistently placed within the top 60 players. Drakonz and BlackoutZ showed they are among the top players in the region. Unfortunately, they will not have the opportunity to play together in the World Cup after an excellent performance. Drakonz moves on as a solo player in the World Cup Final.
